Dr. Harry E. Wilkinson
Dr. Wilkinson was Visiting Professor of Management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University, from 1997 to 2000; was Director, Office of Executive Development from 1993 to 1997 and a Visiting Professor of Administrative Sciences from 1990 to 1994. From 1965 to 1967 he was Dean of the College of Business Administration at Northeastern University where he taught in the MBA and Executive Development programs. He has taught at Washington University in St. Louis, Florida Institute of Technology, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is the author of an executive development/graduate level, case oriented, organizational behavior textbook titled Influencing People in Organizations: Concepts and Cases which was published by Dryden/HBJ in February 1993 and is currently in the process of being rewritten. He has authored or coauthored numerous articles in management journals on subjects including management development, leadership, power and influence, motivation, culture change for TQM, coaching and mentoring. He has also written or supervised the writing of over eighty readings and three hundred fifty case studies for use in executive development programs. In 1967 he founded University Affiliates, Inc., a strategic consulting and executive development firm and remained it's President and Chairman of the Board untill 2000. He has managed various consulting projects in such fields as organizational development, strategic planning, problem solving, leadership, group dynamics, engineering management, career development, power and authority, communications, influencing behavior in organizations, family business, e-commerce business planning, and the research, development and presentation of custom designed executive programs. He is still active as an independent consultant.
Clients for whom Dr. Wilkinson has consulted include: Baylor College of Medicine, Coopers & Lybrand - UK, EGG, Herman Hospital, Honeywell, IBM, Mitre, Philip Services, Raytheon, RCA, Sanders Associates, United Aircraft, Western Atlas, Westinghouse, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Bryant College, Harvard School of Public Health, National Defense Education Institute, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union Texas Petroleum and the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Defense, Health and Human Services, Interior, and State. Within the Department of Defense he has done work for the Army Materiel Command, Bureau of Naval Weapons, Naval Air Development Center, Naval Coastal Systems Center, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Naval Research Laboratory, Naval Surface Weapons Center, Naval Underwater Systems Center and the Office of Naval Research. He has also consulted with a number of family owned and e-commerce businesses.
From 1961 to 1965, he was a senior consultant and project director with a major consulting organization. He also worked for the General Dynamics Corporation as a market analyst, for the Bell Telephone System for six years as an engineer, and served as a Naval officer in the Far East during the Korean Conflict in cryptography and communications.
Dr. Wilkinson received an AB degree in nuclear physics from Princeton University in 1952, an MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1957, and a DBA degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1960. Dr. Wilkinson is registered as a psychologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the East. (02-04)
