Highlights

Professional Development Talk

Herb Weiss, Ph.D.
Wednesday, August 1 12:00pm
Dr. Weiss discussed the art of communication
About Herb Weiss
Dr. Weiss received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas in organic chemistry. He then worked in the US Army Chemical Corps for two years. Following that he worked at Alcolac, Inc for ten years. His positions there were Chemist, Research Director, Sales Manager and VP of Marketing. He then co-founded Balchem Corporation and held the position of CEO for 29 years. After that he was on Balchem Corporation’s board of directors for six years. In that six years he also worked for Rice University as Special Assistant to Dean of Natural Sciences in a program that helped to find jobs and internships for graduate students. He has graciously offered to share his wisdom and experience with the chemistry graduate students so those of us interested in industry might get a better idea of what it is like, and be better prepared for it if that is where we get a job.
