Graduate Student Loan Closet
A project of the Faculty Women's Club for all Rice graduate
students
The Faculty Women's Club welcomes you to Houston! We want
to help you get settled by offering you the use of household
items from our LOAN CLOSET, a volunteer lending service.
For a $25 registration fee (renewable annual rates of $20/second
year, $15/third year, $10/4th year and $5/each subsequent year),
you may borrow items from our
inventory. Post-docs fees begin at $30 registration fee and decrease
by $5 /year until the level of $5 is reached. These rates are for
the current year. Rates will be reviewed every summer and may
change if necessary.
Registration gives you the privilege of selecting
available goods at any time during the year. Items borrowed must
be returned to the closet when you no longer need them or when
you leave Rice.
Bed linens, dishes, cutlery, cookware, bookcases, lamps,
irons, toasters, coffeemakers, etc. are available. Some large
items require an additional deposit. Faculty, staff, alumni,
friends, and departing students donate items enabling us to continue
to help Rice graduate students.
The loan closet is located at The Rice Graduate Apartments,
1515 Bissonnet, Room 149.
The closet has sofas available for loan
Remember you must provide your own transport for furniture.
